Why artificial grass is better than traditional turf for roofs.

Rooftop Greenery

Green rooftops are making an impact in cities across the world. Green roofs deliver shade, absorb heat from the atmosphere, and decrease the roof surface and the air temperatures surrounding it. These rooftops are a perfect way to increase square footage and enhance mental health by incorporating a green outdoor space in the concrete jungle. By using synthetic, you can increase the options for implementing a creative space in an otherwise bland area.

Benefits of Artificial Grass Rooftops

Installing artificial turf on a rooftop has numerous benefits. Here are just a few of our favorite reasons:

Easy to Clean

Synthetic grass is extremely simple to keep clean and fresh-looking.

Low Weight

It doesn’t pose any safety risks or hazards compared to natural grass — such as root and water damage.

Offers Insulation

Protects building interiors against extreme heat and may provide resistance to mildew, decomposition, or mold.

Reduced Maintenance

Synthetic turf will last for the long haul and requires very little upkeep if installed properly.

Adds Value

Delivers a quick getaway while remaining in the concrete jungle.

Safe Space for Kids and Pets

With artificial turf, your pets and kids will not be exposed to toxic weedkillers, fertilizers, and pesticides.

Create A Unique Look

Synthetic turf makes it simple to install turf where organic grass would not grow, and you have the ability to create unusual shapes, or even place them on walls if you want to.

Which Fiber Type Should You Use?

There are several factors to consider when picking synthetic grass, much less what would be suitable for a rooftop. Here are some essential aspects to keep in mind when evaluating options:

Nylon is a long-lasting fabric, however, outdoor areas are vulnerable to expansion/contraction and are likely to fade.

We recommend nylon indoors or scenarios with high commercial wear or non-fill areas. All non-infill nylon Shaw products follow extensive flammability testing to comply with building codes.

For a rooftop commercial area, we recommend an infill PE tape product.

PE tape provides durability without sacrificing performance; high grade PE resins are fade-resistant and not vulnerable to expansion and contraction. Our Play-Safe collection provides the best performance for this application.
